The Riven “PEACE AND CONFLICT” (review)

In the golden hands of these infallible musicians, in fact, there is a lot of wisdom, it is perceived in the splendid arrangements for guitar (Joakim Sandegård / Arnau Diaz) or in the cerebral bass parts in “The Taker”(Max Ternebring), but in general the quintet of feelings to give us has several, starting from the flexible voice of the female frontman : Charlotta ‘Totta’ Ekebergh, that will bring to mind rock songwriters of the caliber of Janis Joplin … and to the most angry I assure you that it was not put there to make a scene; the girl really knows what she is doing and will not make you regret the usual – for the genre treated – male interpreters.
“Peace and Conflict”It is simply perfect in its essentiality: 9 tracks finished in an excellent way thanks to the clear mastering of Ola Ersfjord, which combine healthy and enthusiastic hard ‘n’ heavy genre “On Time”or”Fly Free”, To other products of psychedelic veins, capable of opening the chakra of the mind and making you want to intone its melodies.
Also thanks to the incredible songwriting, able to evoke the expressive power of great performers such as the first Deep Purple (those of the self-titled album of ’69 to be clear), with that classic vein typical of Jon Lord’s monumental compositions.
The prog vibes of the titletrack are also pleasant “Peace And Conflict”By Pinkflodyana memory, or even the most Sabbatical and burdensome notes of“Death”.
Intimate and Spanish acoustic parts in “La Puerta del Tiempo”which provides excellent overture to the most magnetic parts of the album:”Sorceress In The Sky”, capable of seducing thanks to the enveloping bass parts that seem to whisper in the ears of perdition.
Battery rhythm (Jussi Kalla) softer, hypnotic and adequate to give a more chill background, obviously accompanied by the refreshing guitars that abandon themselves, now completely succubus, to the bewitching voice of vila – blonde nymphs typical of Slavic mythology – of Ekebergh.
Also worth mentioning “The Top Of Evil”, skilled at opening up in a more forced rhythm, even frenzy at the end of the piece.
An album that is certainly worth the candle (it is all in all also on the cover) and will give you moments of great auditory satisfaction.
